Laser Hair Removal

Are you tired of shaving, waxing, or tweezing? If you said yes to any of these then you will love the results of laser hair removal. Frequent use of razors, hot wax, and tweezers can not only be painful, time consuming, and expensive, but also damaging to your skin. Laser hair removal is one of the most common cosmetic procedures in the United States and very safe. The lasers are very precise in targeting the roots of dark coarse hairs, leaving the surrounding skin undamaged. Most clients start seeing results after just a few treatments. Depending on the area, treatments can take anywhere from just a couple minutes to an hour. The time our clients invest undergoing laser hair removal saves them countless hours and money throughout the rest of their lives.

Laser Hair Removal - Frequently Asked Questions

How many treatments will I need?

The average person usually needs somewhere between 6 to 12 treatments. More treatments may be needed for excessive hair growth. Determining factors are the amount of hair, the thickness, the color (the darker the better, does not work on blond or gray hair), and the laser setting that can be tolerated.

How often do I need treatments?

3 to 6 weeks apart, depending on the body area, and the hairs growth cycle.

What types of reactions will I see after the treatment?

Redness, small bumps and sometimes swelling can occur and possibly last up to 2-3 days, but most only experience slight pinkness for about 15 min.

Does it hurt?

It can be slightly painful. The feeling can be described as a hot rubber band snap but is very tolerable and usually less painful than waxing. The laser has a built in patented cryogen feature that coats the skin with a topical anesthetic; which helps with the pain and a cooling agent which makes it safe for all skin types. Also, the setting can be lowered to decrease the pain, but the higher it is tolerated the more effective the treatment. In addition we use ice packs to help numb the skin, and topical anesthetic is available (LMX).

Do I have to let the hair grow in between treatments?

No, the hair must be cut or shaved the day before the treatment and can be shaved or trimmed as many times as you like, also there is no waxing, plucking, or bleaching allowed in between treatments. However, even after the first treatment the growth will slow and come in less course, requiring less maintenance.

When will I notice a difference?

After the first treatment there will be a reduction in the amount of hair and the growth will slow and come in less course and thick. However, after the treatment the hair goes through a 3 week shedding process, so the reduction will not be fully noticed until the new hair growth comes in.

Is it safe for all skin types?

Yes, the Candela gentle Yag laser is approved for all skin types and tanned skin. However, tanning should be avoided after treatments have started, and an spf 35 should be used durning sun exposure, as hyperpigmentation can occur, but in rare instances.
